Day Six: Point Pleasant Beach, the boardwalk, and Atlantic City

We began the day by preparing to go to the beach! We packed towels, chairs, an umbrella, and most importantly sunscreen for our day at Point Pleasant beach. But before going to the beach, we had to pick up my Stan Smith Adidas shoes from a department store called Lord & Taylor. I sat in the car with Katarina's mother, Connie, Nikos, and Katarina.

After spending three days searching for the Stan Smith Adidas shoes, I finally found them! I was so excited. After buying my shoes, we continued our drive to the beach. Once we arrived to Point Pleasant beach, Connie had to find a place to park the car. Since July 4th is coming up, the United States' Day of Independence, many people decided to come to the beach this weekend.

Once the car was parked, we walked to a pizza restaurant called Joey Tomato's on the boardwalk to have lunch. After lunch, I bought an ice cream at a famous and popular ice cream shop called Kohr's, it was the perfect treat for the beach! Nikos ate a popular boardwalk snack called a "funnel cake" and Katarina got fried chips, called Butterfly chips. Although we all were enjoying our treats, many seagulls began to pester us once they saw how delicious our food was! The seagulls were very aggressive in trying to take our food from us.

Once we finished our snacks, Katarina, Connie, Nikos, and I began to walk along the boardwalk. At the Point Pleasant boardwalk, it is filled with arcade games. We played two arcade games - Whack-a-Mole and a Water Shooter game. Nikos won twice when we played the Whack-a-Mole game! And Connie won the Water Shooter game. After playing, we continued walking along the boardwalk and Katarina's father soon joined us to relax on the beach.

In New Jersey, you have to pay to relax on the beach! I was shocked because in Spain, you do not need to pay to enter the beach. We brought all of the towels, chairs, and the umbrella onto the beach. After finding a good place in the sun, Katarina, Nikos, and I then walked up and down the shore to explore.

On the beach, there was a large amount of seaweed - it was hard to find a spot near the water without seaweed! I wanted to swim for a bit, unfortunately the water was freezing and it contained an excessive amount of seaweed. Instead, I relaxed in the sun with Katarina, Nikos, Connie, and Michael. It was a great way to unwind after a busy week of traveling throughout New Jersey and New York.

Once we finished relaxing on the beach, Katarina's family and I walked to a popular seafood restaurant called the Shrimp Box - what a great way to end the day at the beach! Katarina's family and I shared different types of seafood, such as oysters, mussels, salmon, lobster, and clams. It was all delicious!

Originally, Katarina's family and I decided to watch the fireworks at the beach. Instead, we made an impromptu change of plans and decided to drive to Atlantic City. Even though we had to drive an hour, it was worth it! Atlantic City was full of lights and the boardwalk was fun to walk on! All in all, it was a great day filled with relaxation and fun activities.
