Day Eight: Jersey Gardens & The Statue of Liberty

Today was another long but fun day in the United States! After eating breakfast at Katarina's house, Katarina, Michael, Nikos, and I drove to the Jersey Garden Outlet Mall. I bought four Levi's shirts for my friends, a large purse and wallet from Michael Kors, and one pair of Converse sneakers for my cousin. I have been shopping so much lately! Katarina told me that tomorrow, July 3rd, we are going to do even more shopping!

Once Katarina and I finished shopping, we drove to a fun Mexican restaurant called "Taqueria Downtown" in Jersey City, NJ. I loved the decorations! It was filled with traditional Mexican ornaments and 70s and 80s movie and music posters. Katarina and I both ate tostadas, Nikos ate bistec tacos, and Michael had a bistec quesdilla. Katarina also drank an agua fresca called "Jamaica", it was made out of hibiscus flowers!

Michael thought it would be a great idea to visit the Statue of Liberty today! Once we arrived, we parked the car, bought our ferry tickets, and waited to take a boat to the island of the Statue of Liberty. Although it was very humid and hot outside, seeing the Statue of Liberty was worth it. The statue is very large and very green (because it is made out of copper). After snapping many photos in front of the statue, we went to the gift shop and bought some souvenirs.

After our long and sweaty journey to visit the statue, we then drove home. Once we arrived at Katarina's house, her dad began to cook dinner. He made baked salmon with broccoli, sautéed green beans, and white rice. He also made creme brûlée and I tried an asian pear for the first time! I have been eating so much food.
